Truly coping with stress doesn’t mean becoming numb or giving up.
Hi everyone, I’m Kevin. So what do we mean by “not eating pressure”? It doesn’t mean zoning out or coasting through life. Nor does it mean you stop caring about what people say. It’s really about drawing a line: the situation is one thing, your reaction is another. You deal with the problem first, before your emotions take the wheel. Other people’s takes are theirs to have. Your own moves? That’s on you. Neither their praise nor their criticism completely defines who you are. You’re only responsible for what’s in your hands, so don’t haul everyone else’s expectations around with you. A lot of stress doesn’t actually come from the work itself or other people—it comes from how our brains spin the story after the fact. Almost every one of my friends has burst into tears over something at work. Maybe a boss called them out in front of everyone, maybe they were drowning in tasks and their manager thought they were dragging their feet, or maybe they just took one little thing and ran with it...
